About Alletukkers.nl

The domain alletukkers.nl was registered in 2015. There was no website yet, no database, and no plan on paper, but the idea was already there. I felt that Twente, the region where I grew up, deserved its own place for genealogical research. That feeling stayed with me all those years.

The inspiration for the idea is more personal. I lost my mother at a young age. Her side of the family remained largely a blind spot for me, something to look into later. That later was postponed time and again, and then postponed again and again. By now I live in Portugal with my family and realize that the stories behind a name are not passed down naturally. My children have Twente roots, but that connection is not taken for granted. Alletukkers.nl is an attempt to change that and is therefore also a project with a purpose.

Alletukkers.nl is a place for anyone who wants to search specifically in Twente sources and reconstruct a Twente family tree. The database contains birth, marriage, and death records, as well as population registers from archives in Enschede, Hengelo, Oldenzaal, and Borne, made available through Open Archives, including population registers that function as Twente's historical census records. More places and sources will follow. The goal is to make it easier for people with Twente roots living abroad to rediscover their Twente ancestors, whether you are just starting out or have been at it for years.

Alletukkers.nl is actively maintained and expanded. Error reports, suggestions, and other feedback are always welcome, because they help improve the site.

Alletukkers.nl is an initiative by Michael Albers, founder of Concatenate. The project is developed and maintained independently. If you enjoy the site or find it helpful, a small contribution via Ko-fi is very welcome. For questions or comments, you can email proat@alletukkers.nl.
